6 Barons Place SE1 Winner of the 2005 London Lifestyle Award

Developer Peabody Trust - www.peabody.org.uk

Barons Place is a 20 unit three-storey experimental low-cost development off Webber Street for the NHS, Peabody Trust and Keep London Working - a key worker research and development project based at Peabody Trust. The apartments were completed using 'off-site modular construction' & fitted with Floor Heating Systems carbon heating film, over Depron & Rockfloor insulation. The final floor covering chosen was an engineered wood floor. The modules were all 'factory built' where our projects Director, Neil Sunderland, supervised the first installations. The individual units were then transported into place & erected during a single weekend saving a vast amount of on-site construction time!

The development has recently won first place in the coveted ' London Lifestyle Awards'. The award was judged on "the best design-led property or development that makes the most innovative use of space, energy conservation, materials and technology."

Eden Gate Project www.eden-gate.co.uk Developer - St Marys Homes - St Blazey Conversion of the old town hall into luxury serviced apartments closed to the Eden Project in Cornwall . All rooms have laminate floor finish except bedrooms which were carpeted. We used 6mm depron insulation/underlay with carbon film in all the halls, kitchens and living areas. In the bathrooms we used our unique 'heat board' system combined with depron underlay & 3mm heating cables

Hillfields Holiday Park, Devon www.hillfield.co.uk/

A 5 year rebuilding plan turning old holiday chalets and outbuildings

into a Holiday village similar to Centre Parcs

The apartments all have Kardean flooring so we used cable mats. The mats

were laid on top of versapanal and versalayer as we needed to include

sound insulation but also with a high point loading.

The mats were covered with approx 8-10mm of latex leveling compund.

The underfloor heating controllers were installed with a floor sensor which is pre-set with a floor limit 28 deg C as recommended by Karndean.

28 luxury new build apartments in Gloucester

All the apartments are tiled throughout & the heating system was a combination of cables & cable mats installed directly below the tiled floor finish

Kings Street , Derby Developer - Wilfred Young Homes www.wilfred-young-homes.com On old 3 story building extended out at the back to make 5 luxury city centre apartments. Flooring was a mixture of tiles/wood & the heating system used was a combination between cables/cable mats below the tiles & carbon film on 6mm depron below the wood flooring.

The White Hart - Chipping Norton

Contractor - Associated Electrical Contractors

Conversion of the ancient White Hart public house into retail units and

luxury apartments.

This was a difficult project due to the Grade II listing. In many of the apartments there were original beams in the ceiling & walls, which could not be touched.

The developer wanted to fit out all the apartments with high quality Wilton carpets & with limited structural changes allowable due to the grade II listing traditional floor heating was not possible. Due to many of the rooms unusual narrowing sizes & shapes an alternative to traditional wall mounted heating was required.

The final chosen option was to use the carbon heating film hidden within the lower walls rather than under the floor. The film was installed from skirting board level to dado level at 1.2 meters above the ground to provide an invisible radiant heating system.

Edwalton Manor Park

Developer - Edwalton Manor Estates

Conversion of single residence into luxury apartment plus new build apartment within the same grounds - total 11 apartments

A mixture of flooring was used including marble, wood & carpet

For the marble floors cable heating systems were installed onto the sub-floor, covered with levelling compound & marble

The remaining areas where fitted out with carbon film & overlaid with 6mm plywood allowing the choice of carpet or timber floors to be laid

New build apartments in Crete .

All appartments being built are having in-screed cable installed within a sand & cement screed & finished with tiles.

Sun House Bennetts Hill - Birmingham

Conversion of a city centre listed building into 31 luxury serviced apartments/studios

A mixture of slate & wood flooring was used with several feature mezzanine areas.

The main heating system was cables covered with latex levelling compound to all slate floors & carbon heating film with Depron insulation below all engineered wood floors.

Developer - Sunriver Properties Nottingham . Convert an old city centre building into 9 luxury apartments. Carbon heating film used under the laminate floor which covered most rooms except the bathrooms which were tiled & where cables were used.
